Artistic techniques

The main purpose of the course is a theoretical introduction to the basic art techniques in which artists have expressed themselves over time. Above all, painting techniques will be presented, and methods of working in graphics, mosaics, and sculpture will also be explained.

Natural science and technology methods of analysis:

Non-destructive techniques (IR photography, IR reflectography, UV photography, UV fluorescence, radiography, X-ray fluorescence, PIXE) and destructive techniques (stratigraphy, microchemical and histochemical methods, IR spectroscopy, chromatography, SEM-EDAX, X-ray diffraction).

Conservation-restoration interventions and techniques:

Probing, measurements; preventive conservation and restoration interventions; conservation-restoration of paintings, decorations, sculptures and related works; mechanical cleaning; dry cleaning, sewing; injecting, retouching.
